Navel Abdominal Acupuncture

Located in the centre of the abdomen, referred to as the hara, reside the organs that give us life. In the centre we find the navel, the Chinese acupuncture point CV 8 Shen Que, Spirit Gate, that refers to the place where we received that life from our mother by way of the umbilical cord. A focal point of energy in the body, where life is given? The importance of infusing the centre of the energy of life, the abdomen and the organs, with the breath of life to regulate the energy and blood of the entire body.

How Does Navel Acupuncture Benefit the Body?

According to traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), there are two types of energy the body can draw from.

The first is Postnatal energy. This type of energy we  acquire and collect after birth. A bit like a  battery that, unless it is recharged, it slowly discharges with use. It  is this source that most healing modalities access.

The second type of energy is the prenatal.  This is the energy that we inherit,  generate, and collect before our birth,  the body securely  stores this type of energy in the navel area. The navel was forbidden to acupuncture, only acupuncture points around the navel are used. However Moxibustion (a herb is  is applied to the navel) and burnt to warm the internal organs.  To improve digestion, abdominal and gynaecological conditions.

Navel acupuncture is an innovate modality as it  differs to other forms of acupuncture as it draws on the pre-birth energies. Hence it has given us the equivalent of  a fully charged battery,  ready to enhance the body’s capacity to heal  itself.

In TCM there are important uses of the navel as a microsystem with its own diagnostic parameters and treatment strategies that extend well beyond the conditions for treatment in TCM. Navel acupuncture is  an excellent tonification treatment for patients with Lung, Spleen, and Kidney disharmonies or for patients exhibiting many criteria described below. It involves treatment of eight points around the navel. This treatment strategy is called the Eight Extra Channel Needling - The Navel or Jing Treatment.

Chinese medicine views qi and blood stagnation as the causes of many types of pain. The basic goal is to move qi and blood to eliminate stagnation and pain.

The ba gua guides the practitioner to achieve a balanced state with in the patient, thus eliminating stagnation and pain. Drawing on Prenatal energy,  the secret to navel acupuncture
